Hebgen Lake

Growing up in Bozeman, Hebgen Lake was where you went to get mauled by a Grizzly Bear.

As recently as September, 2016, two people were mauled by Grizzly Bears at Hebgen Lake

I had two surveys here and so spent two anxious mornings, from 5 am - 10:30 am, stumbling around in the forest above the lake.

I wished I had an 80s style boombox on my shoulder to blast music.

Instead, I played Pride and Prejudice on my phone at volume 10 so I could die listening to my favorite book.

One of the guys from the Hydrology Crew said native people considered it an honor to be killed by a Grizzly Bear.

I found this.

And this.

And this.

And this lion who had broken out of his corral and was about to attack me.

But the only bears I found were these, in the Bozeman Duds N Suds.
