I got my first Western Wood Pewee (WEWP) of the year along the road just north of the USA border.
When I crossed into he US, two things happened: I finished Before the Dawn by Nicholas Wade (over 11 hours of listening); and, I saw three dead White-tail Deer within fifteen minutes.
I only saw two dead squirrels on the road the whole time I was in Canada.

Wildlife Overpass near Banff
A chainlink apron is sunk into the ground and attached to the base of the fence (see upper right side of above photo) so coyotes and wolves can't dig under. For animals who get stuck between the fence and the highway, there are jump outs.
Canadians also have lots of wildlife underpasses in places that are natural extensions of gullies and streams.
This is the pedestrian underpass from Radium Hot Springs to the parking lot.
Wildlife trigger motion-sensitive cameras on the overpasses and take selfies as they cross.
