Birders Wreck Trucks
This season, biologists have already wrecked two trucks. Nobody injured.
Boss sent out a pleading, underscored, email titled:
Driving Safety_Top Priority.
“Even though most of us work in areas with rugged terrain, bears, wolves, mountain lions, etc…” here in Eastern Montana that’s not the case. Here: wind, sun, two-tracks, no good food, ant hills, ticks. But the roads ARE bad.
This road didn’t even last 2 km: it evaporated into a field. I walked the rest of the way to the survey the next morning in the dark - 4 km through badlands.
This would be easy to drive into and hard to drive out of.
